Care & Repair – Tús related support in the community

Care & repair at work

The Care & Repair programme in conjunction with Age Action Ireland carries out minor repairs for older people.

The aim of the service is to enable older and vulnerable people (over 65 or with a disability) to remain in their own homes, in their own communities, living as independently as possible, through the improvement of their housing conditions and their level of comfort, security and well-being.

Jobs can vary from fitting a light bulb to fitting smoke alarms, putting up shelving, moving light pieces of furniture, minor gardening, sweeping up leaves, mowing lawns, fixing a door handle to cleaning out a stove/solid fuel range, installing security locks and chains, minor interior painting, minor plumbing etc.

Care & repair sessions are 1.5 hours in duration and operate Monday to Wednesday in the East Cork area (Carrigtwohill to Cloyne, Whitegate and Killeagh).
