On Friday last, SECAD was delighted to visit the wrap up session of Midleton’s Cork Young Filmmakers’ Summer Film Week held from 3-7 July.

Part funded through SECAD’s support, the week-long filmmaking workshop for youth groups and schools was facilitated by Cork Film Centre.

Twenty one young aspiring filmmakers engaged in an intensive filmmaking programme covering script, storyboard, acting for film, art direction, camerawork and directing.  They  had an opportunity to direct, learn about sound effects, and got some experience in editing in the last two days. They produced two great short films at each workshop, got loads of hands on experience in all aspects of filmmaking. Feedback from participants was excellent, they particularly enjoyed meeting like-minded people and learning new skills in a fun and creative environment.

Watch this space as the participants will have opportunity to showcase their films at a Gala Film Screening at Cork County Hall, hosted by Cork County Council in November!

Cork Young Filmmakers has provided filmmaking opportunities to young people in South and East of the County since 2006. It is supported by SECAD and Cork County Council.
